What does God’s word mean to you?

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

-2 Timothy 3:16-17

No matter how you slice it, the Bible is an incredible book. From a historical and factual context, it is a series of 66 books written by 40 authors over the course of 1500 years. It was orignally transcribed in 3 languages (Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic) and over 3 different continents (Europe, Asia and Africa). When you take this into account it becomes absolutely mind blowing, at least to me, that the storyline (Creation, The Fall, Redemption, God’s Love for All Humanity) flows together with absolute perfection.

Yet as amazing as the word of God is, some sadly view it as a just a collection of historical documents. Others view it as a collection of moral teachings. Yet others view it as a hoax or garbage.

What does the word of God mean to you?

To me it is life. It is hope. It is the very voice of God available to me anytime I am in need.

I came across a video this week that shows Christians in China receiving Bibles for the first time. Their reaction absolutely amazing….

Do you say the same thing about God’s word: “This is what I need the most.”

Lord, may we always appreciate and honor the gift of your word and may we never take the access we have to your word for granted.
